Division 9 students at Chaffey-Burke Elementary School are thrilled to announce the tremendous success of their Financial Literacy Fair, which brought our community closer together. Guided by the principles of the Seven Generations Indigenous Lens, students practiced and showcased values such as respect, resilience, responsibility, reciprocity, relationship, relevance, and reconciliation. Through the fair, students learned important life lessons as they created handmade items, respected others’ ideas, and embraced their roles as responsible community members.
In just two hours, from May 23rd to 25th, Division 9 raised a grand total of $3280.10. The students express their heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors, including Save On Foods, SONG Creative Mentorship, Price Smart Foods, Sparkbox, Superstore, Flowers by Aromatears, Snowball Capital, and Savaraa. Their support and the Chaffey-Burke community played a pivotal role in the fair’s success, and the students are excited for their continued partnership in future events.
All proceeds from the fair will be dedicated to enhancing students’ experiences, including field trips, books, and school supplies. The Division 9 students extend their thanks to the community organizations that helped make the event even more successful. Their support ensures that future students will benefit from an even more impactful Financial Literacy Fair.
The Financial Literacy Fair exemplified the power of unity, reciprocity, and community support, leaving a lasting impact on the Division 9 students and their Chaffey-Burke community. As they express their gratitude and excitement for future endeavours, the students eagerly anticipate the positive effects these funds will have on their educational journeys.
