Terry Fox run – Finish It!
Hello to our Chaffey-Burke families,
Our annual Terry Fox run will be taking place on the afternoon of Thursday, September 25th. The Terry Fox campaign the year is “Finish It.” Building on that our fundraiing theme for this year is “Five for Fox to Finish It”.
Each year the Terry Fox Foundation provides millions of dollars to cancer reseach groups throughout Canada. The money raised has help researchers make significant advancements in the treatment of many types of cancer. Your donations will continue to help develop cures and treatments in the fight against cancer.
Five for Fox:
Pledge sheets will be going home with your child on today . These can be returned to your child’s teacher with cash, or a cheque made out to The Terry Fox Foundation. Your child can also encourage friends and family to donate online at our school donation page. We do not want students or families to solicit door to door, but rather the idea of Five for Fox can be used to ask family and family friends for donations. Donations can be brought to the school and we will have a group of students go around to the classes each morning collecting the money raised. Alternatively, you and your friends can use the link below to donate at the Chaffey-Burke page on the Terry Fox webpage.

Welcome Back
Welcome Back to School!
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well and that you’ve enjoyed a restful and joyful summer break. On behalf of our entire staff, I am thrilled to welcome you back to another exciting school year at Chaffey-Burke Elementary.
As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, we are filled with anticipation and enthusiasm for the learning, growth, and community-building ahead. We are looking forward to seeing all our returning students and staff and to welcoming our newcomers.
This year, we remain committed to:
Academic Growth: Supporting each child’s unique learning journey.
Social-Emotional Growth: Fostering kindness, resilience, and confidence.
Family Partnerships: Strengthening the connection between home and school.
We encourage you to stay involved, ask questions, and share your ideas. Your partnership is vital to our success, and we are grateful for your continued support. There are opportunities to help out in classes, join in on field trips, or to join our Parent Advisory Council (PAC).
We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 only. This day is important for us to help determine who is returning to Chaffey-Burke and how many students are going to be part of our school this year.
If your child is new to Chaffey-Burke, and is in grades 1- 7, please enter the building through the main doors Go up the stairs, past the office and into the gym where you will meet some of our teachers. They will assign you a classroom to join for the first week.
If your child is new to us and is in Kindergarten we will see you for the first time on Wednesday. Please check your email to confirm the times that your child will come to school for our gradual entry for the first two weeks
If you were part of our school community last year you will line up at the same exterior door as you did last year and you will return to the same classroom that you were in. Please note that as we have had changes in our teaching staff, and some room changes, it may be a different teacher who greets you at the door and spends the first hour with you.
As we are preparing for the new year, our last year’s classes will be staying together for this first week, but with a different teacher until we move into our classes for the 2025-2026 school year.
When your child leaves on Tuesday they will have a slip of paper indicating the number of the exterior door they will use to meet their teacher for the week. You will pick your child up at the same door at the end of the day.
All exterior doors are marked with a white number in the top corner starting with the main entrance door at the front being number 1 and working clockwise around the building. Numbers 2 -7 are on the lower field and numbers 8 -14 are on the upper field at the back of the building.
All students will be staying in these classes until at least Monday, September 8 when we are hoping to get the okay from the school district to move into our classes for the year.
Finally, please mark your calendars for our Back-to-School Picnic on September 19 from 1:05 – 3:00, where you’ll have the chance to meet your child’s teacher and other parents in the class and the school.
Let’s make this year one of joy, discovery, and connection. Welcome back to Chaffey-Burke, we’re so glad you’re here!
Warm regards,
Jeff Hutton
Principal, Chaffey-Burke Elementary
